I didn't know I needed an inclinometer
This weekend I was randomly browsing the internet and one ad popped up. This ad was particularly interesting: there was a guy dressed as a handyman with this tiny device on top of a shelf he was installing, he tilted the shelf until it was perfectly level. And there were lasers.

This ad introduced me to an “inclinometer”: it shows the angle between a surface and the perfectly leveled horizon. This one also shoots lasers to the left and right, so you can align things to its sides.
I had never seen one of these before, I didn’t even know this technology existed. But I immediately realized that I’d always needed one.
Here’s the creepy part: I’ve never searched for an inclinometer. Heck, I didn’t even know this word existed! And somehow, the ad showed me something interesting enough to catch my attention.
The Algorithm works. And They know about me, They know my interests, They know what I need before I even know I need it.
